Accounting & Tax
Compliance done properly, and the planning conversation most firms never get to.
Returns, BAS, books and SMSF for Sydney business owners — on a fixed fee, on a schedule, with a real person who knows your file.
The difference
Most firms lodge your return. The useful work happens eleven months earlier.
By the time a tax return is being prepared, almost every decision that affected the outcome has already been made. The value is in the conversations before 30 June — and in books that are current enough to have them.
What you get every year
- A fixed fee agreed in writing before work starts
- A scheduled job list, so lodgements are not a scramble in the last week
- A pre-30 June planning call with your projected position
- Monthly exception review over your ledger, not just an annual look
- Direct access to the person doing the work
What we will tell you honestly
If a structure is costing you more than it saves, we will say so. If an SMSF is not worth the cost at your balance, we will say that too. We would rather lose the fee than build a group that has to be unwound later at your expense.
What we do
Accounting services in detail
Tax returns & planning
Preparation and lodgement for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs — and, more importantly, the planning conversation before 30 June rather than the autopsy after it.
- Individual, company, trust and partnership returns
- Rental property and capital gains schedules
- Pre-30 June tax planning with projected positions
- Fringe benefits tax returns
- Amendments, objections and ATO correspondence
- Overdue return catch-up and remission applications
BAS, GST & payroll
The quarterly and monthly rhythm, run on a schedule so it never becomes a scramble. Lodging through us also gives you the registered agent extension on most quarters.
- Quarterly and monthly BAS and IAS
- GST reconciliation and coding review
- Payroll processing and Single Touch Payroll
- Superannuation guarantee calculation and lodgement
- Payroll tax and workers compensation declarations
- Award interpretation support, including SCHADS
Bookkeeping
Books that are current, reconciled and actually usable for a decision — not just balanced enough to lodge. We run an AI exception review over every file each month to catch what a manual pass misses.
- Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks
- Bank and credit card reconciliation
- Accounts payable and receivable management
- Monthly management reports with commentary
- Chart of accounts design and clean-up
- Catch-up bookkeeping for files that have fallen behind
SMSF administration
Fund accounts, tax return, and coordination of the independent audit. Plus the trustee documentation that auditors increasingly qualify on when it is treated as a formality.
- Annual financial statements and SMSF annual return
- Independent audit coordination
- Investment strategy documentation and review
- Contribution and pension compliance monitoring
- Limited recourse borrowing arrangement support
- Fund establishment and wind-up
NDIS provider support
Bookkeeping and payroll built around how NDIS money actually moves — three claim channels, plan end dates, price limits and SCHADS.
- Claim-to-remittance reconciliation by channel
- Unclaimed service and ageing claim tracking
- SCHADS payroll and true cost-per-hour analysis
- Price guide compliance checks
- Audit-ready records linking claims to service delivery
- Provider financial viability reporting
Structuring & advisory
Whether the entity you set up five years ago still fits what you are doing now — and what it would cost to change it before, rather than after, the value is built.
- Company, trust and partnership structuring
- Restructure planning and available rollovers
- Division 7A loan account management
- Business valuations and sale readiness
- Small business CGT concession planning
- Succession and family group planning
Switching to us
Changing accountants takes one email from you.
The awkward conversation people dread is not actually required. Here is the whole process.
- 1
Free consult
Thirty minutes. Tell us what you have, what is behind, and what is bothering you. We tell you what it would take and what it would cost.
- 2
Ethical clearance
We write to your current accountant requesting your file and confirming there is nothing outstanding. This is a standard professional courtesy — you do not have to make the call.
- 3
Agent transfer & access
We link you to our ATO agent number, get access to your accounting file, and review the last two years to see what has been done and what has not.
- 4
Scheduled from there
Your jobs go into our system with due dates. BAS, returns, super, payroll — each with an owner and a deadline that is not the ATO's deadline.
Questions
What people ask before switching.
What does it cost to have you do my tax?
We quote a fixed fee after the first consult, once we have seen the scale and state of your records. An individual return with a rental property, a company return with financial statements, and a group with a trust and an SMSF are three different jobs, so a single price list would be misleading. What we can promise is that the number is agreed in writing before we start.
How do I change accountants?
You send us your details, we send an ethical clearance letter to your current accountant requesting your file, and we handle the transfer of your ATO agent linking. You do not have to make an awkward phone call. Most transfers complete within two weeks.
Do you do bookkeeping as well as tax?
Yes, and we prefer to. When we maintain the file, the year-end work is faster, cheaper and more accurate, and we can spot problems in March rather than the following February. If you already have a bookkeeper you are happy with, we work alongside them.
Can you fix overdue returns and BAS?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. The sequence is always the same: reconstruct the records, lodge everything outstanding to stop failure-to-lodge penalties accruing, get the ATO account statements to see exactly what is principal versus penalty and interest, then negotiate a payment plan and apply for remission where there is a genuine case.
Do you use Xero or MYOB?
Both, plus QuickBooks. If you have a preference we work in it. If you do not, we will recommend based on what your business actually needs rather than what we find convenient.
Will I get the same person each time?
Yes. We are deliberately small. You deal with the person doing your work, and they know your file without having to read it back from the start.
Bring last year's return. We'll tell you what we'd have done differently.
Thirty minutes, no charge, no obligation. In our office, at your premises, or over video.
